The new edition of Metaphor Dice will be wonderful (if the campaign is successful), but there is no denying that folks love the original sets, and wouldn't mind a steep discount on them during national poetry month! So this is a way to help out the new campaign by doubling down on the original product!
Here's how to do it:
Receive six sets of the original 12-dice starter sets of Metaphor Dice for $60. That's the lowest price ever offered ($8.33 per set) and almost a 60% discount off the retail price on Amazon.
We can likely ship these out in May and June of 2019, and you will be able to "add on" the new set then if you want to (because they will be pretty awesome, too)! All multiples of $50 will be interpreted intuitively. For example, someone who pledges $100 at this level will be sent 12 sets, or 18 sets for a pledge of $150.

. . . Erudite Vocabulary!
With almost 400 votes cast during the month of January, we are thrilled to announce that the first Metaphor Dice Expansion Set will called THE BEST WORDS: Erudite Vocab!
It wasn't even close! So figure this new set will be like doubling down on the original set, except with nine dice (instead of 12). What's great about this set is that players will be able to use it either in conjunction with an original set or as a standalone set all by itself!
No words have been 100% approved for inclusion yet, but the three that we used as "sample words" to explain the concept are pretty close to making the cut. As you will recall, they were:

Greetings, Metaphorical Backers!
As I write this, I am waiting to receive a shipment of another 2,000 sets of Metaphor Dice, which have spent that last 30+ days on the SLOW BOAT from our manufacturer. I've got labels ready to send six cases off to Amazon without evening bringing them up to my office, and the rest will go toward filling wholesale orders from museum stores and game shops as well as bulk orders that come in from our website.
This morning I started crafting the Kickstarter campaign for our first EXPANSION SET of Metaphor Dice, which will run begin on April 1, 2019, and run for the length of National Poetry Month! What will the topic of the first Expansion Set be? Well, we're not sure yet. Until February 1, you can go here to vote for which of the following sets of Metaphor Dice will be the first Expansion Set for which we create a campaign!
Although the results will not be announced officially until this Friday, I can tell you that there does appear to be one overwhelming favorite (you will be able to see which one I'm talking about AFTER you vote)!
All expansion sets will be nine dice instead of the original 12, but in all other respects exactly the same as the original ones (same colors & size).

I've checked in with all the folks whose packages appeared to have some issues, but everyone seems to have received their Metaphor Dice by now (except for Jon, a former student of mine who wanted to see if the USPS would deliver his set if I stuck the address label and postage directly on the box). By all means, if I'm mistaken, and you're still waiting on your dice, reach out to me immediately (taylor "at" metaphordice "dot" com), and I will look into what is causing the delay.
As of last week Metaphor Dice is now a thing you can buy on Amazon, and they are already selling well!
As a direct result of this increased visibility on a massive platform, orders through BackerKit have dwindled to about one every other day or two. But that's still the best place to buy more than one set at a time. There are deals to be had on two, three, six, and 18 sets of dice that I haven't yet figured out how to recreate on Amazon. And shipping overseas is still easier on the BackerKit platform than on Amazon (for the time being). All this is to say that we will probably be shuttering the BackerKit platform in a few weeks. After that, the only other place to get the dice will be our website, which will be brand new and probably buggy for a while. So if you love your dice and want more, go to BackerKit now.
We will be back on Kickstarter in April of next year with a new campaign for the first Metaphor Dice Expansion Set: SEX & POLITICS (see below)! Until then, thanks for being a part of this poetic journey!

Monday we received the dice you helped us create, and every day since has been a day of repackaging, labeling, and mailing! By the end of today, all packages will be in transit! Thank you, thank you, thank you! If you love what you get you can always order more. We will soon be up on Amazon, but our website will always tell you where you can get more dice.
